We ran the Reindeer Run this weekend. It’s our first 5k as a family of 5, and my first race since having Tess. The Reindeer Run is one of my favorite events every year (tied with the Bridge Run). The course is in the most beautiful part of Charleston (South of Broad and the Battery), and it was 80 degrees and gorgeous. It’s a family friendly race, and it’s so awesome to see how many families are running together. At one point during the race I saw a mom running with her 10ish year old twin girls, one wearing a red tutu and one wearing a green tutu, and may or may not have teared up (I blame the hormones) picturing the day that Riley, Quinn and Tess run the race with me.
Here’s my crew.
Miles ran with the double BOB with the big girls (sucker!) and I ran with Tess in the single BOB. After running with the double BOB for the last two years, the single BOB is like a dream. The race was really great minus the fact that elderly women and 8 year old children were passing me left and right. I’m not gonna lie, being so slow is a major hit to my ego. I’ve been back to running for 4 weeks now, and it is still SO hard. I keep waiting for it to get easier, but it’s just not happening yet.
And this is the best part of running the race.

Ever since Saturday, both Quinn and Riley have been putting on their running shoes and racing around the house “like Mommy and Daddy” and getting their baby doll strollers and recreating Saturday’s race. My heart might explode.
[wpvideo quB5VG5V] Side note- if you’re looking into running strollers, there is absolutely no point in looking at any other brand. The BOB running strollers are the best out there. Don’t waste your time researching, if you’re a runner, get a BOB. Totally worth the money.
