Y’all! What is wrong with me?!? How am I just getting on the boat with the online grocery shopping?!?!? I wish I had a good excuse and could say that no one told me, but my best friend has been RAVING about Harris Teeter online shopping and I just have been too stuck in my ways to try it. I LOVE Whole Foods and my kids love going there too, so it always seems like a good outing for us, or at least that is what I’ve been telling myself. But the truth is, that hauling 3 toddlers to Whole Foods is fucking miz. Honestly, it feels like an Olympic sport. And even when they are wonderful and have exceptional behavior (which is rare), it’s is STILL hard and I’m exhausted when we get home.
We were in Richmond over Thanksgiving and even my 66 year old mother was shopping for groceries online, so I decided that it was time to give it a go. We drove home from Richmond on Friday night, and while Miles was driving, I did my online grocery shopping and was seriously amazed with all the organic options. You know how it is with “your store”, you know where everything is, and then when you go to another grocery store you just feel lost. That is how I feel in Harris Teeter, so I just never go and assume that they don’t have as good of a selection as Whole Foods. I would rather go to Whole Foods because I know they have what I want and I know where it is. Well, I did my weekly grocery shopping and found almost everything I needed, and it ended up being about $75 less than normal. That is a HUGE savings, and I was still able to stick with mostly organic.
After a 7 hour drive home from Richmond with 3 toddlers, we arrived home a 6pm with NO groceries. I drove to Harris Teeter, which is literally 2 minutes away, and the nicest young man ever brought my groceries out to the car and loaded them in my trunk. I DID NOT EVEN GET OUT OF THE CAR! I couldn’t believe it.
It took 4 minutes and my grocery shopping was DONE! HOW HAVE I NOT BEEN DOING THIS FOR THE LAST 3.5 YEARS?!?! Or how about when I had two newborn babies and couldn’t figure out how to get the babies out of the house must less grocery shop. This could have saved me so much stress and anxiety. It costs $4.95 extra to have someone do your grocery shopping and load your car…it’s worth so much more than that to me.
And from now on, my shopping list is saved, so reordering seems to be the easiest thing ever. I will have to go to Whole Foods to supplement, but that’s just for a few special things, and it will take just a minute or two out of my week…NBD. So, you should take my advice and try online grocery shopping. I wish I had listened months and months ago and taken Sarah’s advice. Let’s be honest, at this stage anything that can make my life more efficient is a no brainer.
