Saturday was a pretty amazing day of fitness! It started bright and early with the Isle of Palms Connector Run for the Child. This is a 10k that benefits child abuse prevention and other child-related programs in our community. I ran the race with “the crew”. It was an out and back course, which I usually hate because it’s boring to see the same thing twice, and it just reinforces how much longer you have until the finish line. However, since it was over the Isle of Palms Connector, it was a pretty spectacular view that you got to see twice. It just reminded me how beautiful Charleston is and how lucky I am to live here. We even got to see some dolphins playing on the way over the Connector.

Then we went to an all organic, healthy, vegetarian brunch at a new place in Mount Pleasant called Puree. If you haven’t been, you need to go…IMMEDIATELY. It is so freaking good…you can find me there a few times a week. You don’t have to be a vegetarian to LOVE the food.
We rewarded ourselves for a run well done with some soy frozen yogurt at Tutti Frutti. Then it was off to the Louie’s Kid’s Yoga Marathon. This is such an awesome event. The entire Charleston yoga community comes together to do 108 Sun Salutations to raise money for Louie’s Kids, which is an organization that works to fight childhood obesity in the lowcounty. Different yoga instructor from around Charleston called the sun sals. It was really amazing to see the community come together to support this amazing cause. After the 10K, 108 sun salutations was pretty brutal. My wrists have been feeling the effects ever since.

We had a blast on Saturday, and we felt great supporting two fantastic causes- child abuse and childhood obesity!
