So, this weekend was pretty amazing. I went to a life changing yoga workshop with the famous Kathryn Budig, and one of my local favs, Elli Boland. I went to two out of the three 2.5 hour sessions, and I have a whole new outlook on so many aspects of my life as well as a pretty extreme new yoga crush on Kathryn Budig.
Kathryn Budig is hugely famous in the yoga world. She is completely amazing and completely real. I guess I expected her to be some very serious, very “out there” yoga guru. But she’s a normal person, just a normal person who is ridiculously amazing and knowledgable about yoga (and life). She’s so funny and I secretly want to stalk where she hangs out, show up there and find a way to be her best friend. Creepy? Yes, but I’m okay with that. Here’s a pic of Elli, me, Kathryn and one of my yoga favs, Jolee (in that order).
The first session I went to was all about moving from fear into love. I felt like Elli knew that I was gonna be there, knew what I’m currently going through, and was talking directly to me. Turns out, everyone felt that way. It’s amazing how so many of us are going through the same things, but just not talking about it.
Here are the main points that are sticking with me:
-Be the best version of yourself. That doesn’t mean to be the version that you think everyone expects you to be.
-You can change your patterns, you can change the way you see yourself. REFUSE TO ACCEPT that things you are unhappy with have to stay that way. This was a big one for me. My last blog post was about after losing the weight, how I still have issues with portion control and body image and that I will continue to work through those issues. Well, that’s true, and I WILL continue to work through those issues, but here’s my new statement. I REFUSE TO BELIEVE THAT I WILL ALWAYS BE A GIRL WITH PORTION CONTROL ISSUES AND BODY IMAGE ISSUES. Instead of accepting that being an issue that I will always deal with, I’m going to work through it and change it. This also applies to so many other aspects of my life.
-Here’s my favorite Kathryn Budig quote from the whole weekend. “FORGET THE STORY. BE IN THE MOMENT. LOVE.”
The second session was right up my alley…inversions and arm balances. I LOVE LOVE LOVE inversions and arm balances, and I ended up learning so much and doing a few things that I never thought I was going to be able to do. I definitely walked away a better teacher, and I have so many fun new things I want to teach my classes and a few new goals for myself that I want to work towards. Here’s my favorite new trick. When I got home, I had to show Miles and he videotaped it for me.

And here’s Vrschikasana (Scorpian pose)
And here’s a few of us doing Astavakrasana (Eight Angle Pose).
New goal… Adho Mukha Vrksasana (handstand) transitioning into Eka Pada Koundiyanasana 2 (flying split) I’ll keep you posted on that one.
