Up until now, Miles and I have been the Halloween scrooges of the neighborhood. We used to turn the lights off and go out to dinner while all the kids in the neighborhood were trick or treating. Such assholes, right? Okay, the truth is, that I refused to buy candy because I knew that I wouldn’t have the will power to stay away from it. There is something about those little fun size chocolates that I just can’t resist. I black out and then all the sudden find myself covered in a million tiny wrappers. We all have our weaknesses. At least I can admit it and know my triggers, right?
We moved to a new neighborhood in January, and it is full of the cutest kids ever. I swear it’s like out of a movie, all the neighborhood kids are always outside playing together, and they are all best friends. I’m so excited that Riley and Quinn will get to grow up here. Halloween is a BIG BIG deal. There is a huge party in the park before the trick or treating starts, and we are so excited to go with our two little flowers (I’ll be sure to post pictures of the twins in their costumes.) Our neighbor across the street told us that he handed out 350 pieces of candy last year- one by one!! I mean, that’s intense. Anyway, we have kids now and live in a neighborhood where Halloween matters, so there’s no getting away from the candy this year.
Miles just went out to get candy, and we were trying to think of what I could have in the house without eating. I told him to get Halloween peeps (gross) and smarties, but then we thought we might be the house on the street with the gross candy. Miles is a genius! He came home with this…
10 bags of Kit Kats!!! Kit Kats that are full of gluten, and I am ALLERGIC to gluten!!! Is that smart or what? I’m definitely gonna make it through Halloween this year and stay on track! I’m close to my pre-pregnancy weight, and I’m ready to just get there already. I’m not willing to let Halloween get in the way of my goal.
So, if you’re like me and can’t resist the candy, buy something that you WON’T touch! God, Miles is so smart!
