I’m a mama!!! I finally had my sweet twin girls on May 14th. I made it to 36 weeks to the day, which was the big goal! I was carrying around almost 13 pounds of babies (that seems so crazy). Riley Alexis Hopkins was 5 lbs, 13 oz and Quinn Brinkley Hopkins was 6 lbs, 8 oz. For twins, that is big! I was on bed rest for the last 3 weeks and then had a c-section, so I’ve been recovering from the c-section for the last several weeks and have been completely sedentary (you can imagine how I feel about that). Being a mama is the best thing that has ever happened to me. These babies are so sweet, and they have the best temperaments. They love each other so much, and their relationship makes me melt. They’re so cute, I seriously can’t deal.
We were in the hospital for a week because Quinn was in the Nicu. Long story short, Quinn’s water broke two days before I had the babies, and we didn’t know it. Because of that, she got an infection and had to be treated in the Nicu. It was was completely heartbreaking having a sick baby and not being able to hold her for a few days, but she is a tough little girl and we all got through it. The amazing nurses got the girls on the same schedule while we were in the hospital, and I want to go back there and kiss them all. They’ve been on the same eating/sleeping schedule since! I really didn’t know it was possible to be so in love and I’m completely obsessed with these sweet girls. Miles is the best, most hands on Daddy. Watching him with the girls makes me fall even more in love with him. I literally could just stare at these babies all day long. They were in separate sacks, which usually means fraternal twins, but the neonatalogist and our pediatrician think they are identical…miracle babies!!! Here are some pictures.
