Last week Lululemon had a complimentary in-store bootcamp. Amanda was leading the bootcamp, so I thought I would round up some of my besties and head downtown to support her, get a good workout and see some of my favorite lemons. I figured that since there would be no equipment there for us to use, that I should go ahead and lift legs and shoulders earlier in that day, and use the bootcamp as my cardio. Knowing Amanda, I should have known better…I’m an idiot. It’s amazing how hard a workout can be without a single piece of equipment. I feel like strength-wise, I’m in pretty good shape right now. Well, clearly switching up my workout was exactly what I needed, because my quads were SO FREAKING sore and I just started walking like a normal person again on Saturday (the bootcamp was on Tuesday…that is some serious delayed onset muscle soreness!). I even had to modfiy a lot because of my ankle injury, so no plyos and only very light jogging (no sprinting), and I was still ridiculously sore. This is just more proof that you can workout anywhere. If you can’t make it to the gym, give yourself a nice, no-equipment ass kicking, just like Amanda did to us! I can’t remember the exact workout, but here are the highlights:
50 body weight squats
25 tuck jumps
50 alternating lunges (25 per side)
25 push ups
50 Russian lunges
25 burpees
25 squat jumps
25 up/downs (from plank, lower down to each forearm, then back up to plank)
Run around the block, then to a parking lot to sprint. Here’s a picture of the set up.
Then we did some awesome partner work (2 sets).
25 Pistol Squats on each leg holding onto a partner
Hold Plank/25 Push Ups on Bench. Don’t have a bench? No problem, make your partner hold plank and do push ups on their back. (Seriously, Amanda?!) This was super hard, but probably the hardest for the person who had to hold plank.
After the Plank/Push Ups, she made the person in plank drop to their forearms while they other persn did tuck jumps over them. I love this picture of Rachel and Sarah (two of my besties).
I really wish I had a picture of this one, but I don’t so you will have to use your imagination. She made the partners get in a wheelbarrow position (yes, wheelbarrow like from when you were a little kid doing wheelbarrow races). Option 1 was to walk the length of the store, Option 2 was to walk each hand out then do a push up, then walk and do a push up, Option 3 was to have your partner walk you across the length of the store while you are doing plyo pushups. It was INTENSE and looked really cool!
There was a lot more running added in there, and we did the first circuit all over again. We were all dripping sweat all over the place and pretty busted. It was awesome. Here’s a picture of the whole group after the workout. It just shows that you can work out anywhere, sometimes you just have to get a little creative.
