I got three magic words from the doctor…CLEARED FOR EXERCISE!!! Hallefreakingluia!! I wanted to cry when the doctor told me (okay, I’m lying, I did cry). My little girls are far and away the best things that have ever happened to me, but I have been through a lot in the last year and a half, and my body has been put through the ringer. It was all completely and totally 100 percent worth it. I look at those cute little faces everyday and feel like the luckiest person in the whole world. But I am relieved that now I can finally get back to feeling like myself. It’s time to reclaim all the muscle that I’ve lost along the way, get my endurance back (start running races again) and get back to feeling (and looking) fit. I even bought a new pair of running shoes to celebrate!
By the way, you should be replacing your shoes every six months. It seems like a lot of money, but it’s so worth it to not suffer from knee, shin, ankle, etc. problems due to insufficient shoe support. I’ve only had my last pair for four months, but I’ve had a major shift in weight in that time so they needed to be replaced.
I also celebrated by crushing it at the gym for the past 2 days. It felt unbelievably awesome. Miles and I are getting in our new workout routines. (He recently started a new job, so we are both trying to start new routines on the right note). We’ve been planning and negotiating our workouts so that we make sure we are both able to get in the gym (or yoga studio) the amount that we need to in order to feel good and meet our goals. We definitely have to make sacrifices for that to happen, but that kind of support is so important. It feels like New Years came a little early…you gotta love a clean slate.
