Okay, so here’s the real vacay recap. We went to Aruba for 5 nights with 3 other couples. These people are more like family than friends. All the boys are best friends from growing up together in Roanoke, and they married the most amazing girls. We’ve been talking about vacationing together for years, and we finally made it happen.
We tried to keep in pretty low key as far as activities go, but managed to fit in a sunset booze cruise and a snorkeling trip. Some of the crew rented a Jeep and ventured off to the natural pools, but I opted to lay in my tiki hut on the beach and have someone deliver me mango margaritas. I didn’t clean up after anyone or prepare food for anyone all week and it was incredible.
The girls. We call ourselves Sister Wives (but with different husbands of course!)
The week was definitely about rest and relaxation, but Miles and I managed to get a few workouts in. One day we got a little ambitious and decided to run to the island lighthouse. It was about 6.5 miles, which is a little aggressive for vacation if you ask me, but the scenery was amazing and it was totally worth it. In true Hopkins fashion, we even found a huge flight of stairs to run.
Other than running, we rented paddleboards, and I managed to get in a little yoga everywhere we went.
I even learned that I can drink a mango margarita while in forearm stand

After a few failed attempts at Wheel on the Paddleboard, I opted for Savasana.
Miles and I tried to keep it healthy for breakfast and we went in a short walk down the beach to a place called Eduardo’s, where they had the most AMAZING Acai Bowls ever. We have got to find a way to recreate these, they were to die for.
We kept it pretty healthy with fish tacos everyday for lunch, and then all bets were off for the rest of the day with happy hour and dinner. After all, it is vacation.
Now it’s back to our routine with a little more work involved to make up for all those mango margs! I got my ass handed to me at MADabolic this morning, so that’s a good start.
